WBHS 1st XI vs Rangitoto College
Westlake finished off the term with a convincing 7-0 win over neighbours Rangitoto College. All goals were open play goals and reflected the attacking philosophy the coaches were after. Three goals were scored in the first half with Keegan Russell grabbing one, Max Simon lobbing the keeper and Sachin Chhiba smoothly finishing.
Westlake continued to cause problems for Rangitoto in the second half. The team was well organised and persistent which resulting in more goals from Benji Edwards, Ben Williams, Sachin Chhiba. With just 10 seconds left on the clock international student Max Simon scored a goal as well. It was his last game for Westlake and a befitting finish to his time at our school. Max will be missed by all and we wish him well for his return to Germany, his hockey future and adventures that lie ahead.
It was a disappointing result for the 2nd XI who scored their first goal in less than a minute into the game but then became complacent losing their structure and drawing the match with Long Bay College 1st XI 2-2. The thirds had a very good win over Mahurangi College. The team were 1-0 down but managed to work their way back to a 3 – 1 win. Junior 1 and junior 2 both played very good hockey to come out victors in their games. Both teams are playing beautiful structured hockey and are working well as a team.
