Friday morning 31st July Westlake Boys hosted its first-ever Grandparents’ Day. 250 grandparents joined their grandsons for a school tour, followed by Assembly and a particularly lively morning tea. The occasion was a special highlight of a particularly busy Westlake week.
Amidst the Westlake grandparents who enjoyed a morning in the company of their grandsons were four former Westlake students and an additional 40 grandparents who were last involved with Westlake when their own sons attended several years ago.
As Westlake Boys heads into its second half century we find ourselves in the exciting position of creating traditions, such as Grandparents’ Day, that will become part of Westlake culture.
Judging by the enthusiastic, happy family groups who were part of our inaugural Grandparents’ Day, it’s heartening to know that, as extended family members become increasingly involved with the school’s activities, the Westlake experience will be enhanced for all members of our community for many years to come.
Thanks to Westlake art and photography teacher Tracey McKay and students Kelby Cai and Yu Chen who managed to capture numerous wonderful images of this special occasion.
